Welcome to Blackwood Design! Our journey began with a passionate music specialist who made a heartfelt transition to boutique accommodation and design after the Christchurch earthquake. I draw daily inspiration from our beautiful 10-acre lifestyle property and my adorable wire-haired dachshunds, Mr. Richard Parker and Miss Vera May. I often get asked how we source our products. I take pride in designing and illustrating each image and creating  patterns using Photoshop. Once the digital files are ready, I send them to Next State in Melbourne, where they print our fabric, primarily on organic cotton. After that, our fabric is shipped to my workroom in Tai Tapu, where I carefully craft each item. We also love to import special products from the UK to enhance our Blackwood label, focusing on delightful brands like Sophie Allport and Laura Stoddart. My main goal is to create reusable products. Currently, I'm managing two businesses: two charming cottages for short-term rental and my online Blackwood Design Store. Additionally, we are fortunate to foster large animals for the S.P.C.A. Many of these animals have found a forever home with us due to health issues from past mistreatment. My husband, who is a large animal veterinarian, does an excellent job caring for them and ensuring they receive the attention they need. Thank you for visiting us!
